i'd had an essay here about how iraq's rejection of the u.s.
dollar as the basis of exchange for its oil in favor of the
euro was the basis for invasion. big bad bully country can't
actually compete, nor can it stand the thought of losing control,
so send in the troops. the only thing giving the dollar solvency with our
huge deficit was being eroded. of course, we don't stop deficit
spending or anything logical like that. but that essay was
accidentally overwritten. damn fumbling fingers.
so much has been going on. if you want more details, they're
likely available in my livejournal.
i've been updating that fairly regularly.
here's a quick update of where things have been/are:
and, as far as getting into astrophysics, the only available study
at usc is in helioseismology. it's a start, and one i will take advantage
of. everyone else seems to be interested in string theory -- which is funny
considering how much the "theory of everything" was an obsession until
i had gotten through my manic swings. the big decision is whether to do
a combination of theory and experiment, or pure theory. we'll see how
that turns out.
but yes, i'm back on the path i want to be on. now, back to studying for finals.
